The club was formed in 1999 when four men who lived in Rugby and were members of the Roger Casements club in Coventry sat down and discussed the possibility of starting a club in the town. The four founder members of the club are Sean Quigley, Mick Treacy, Kevin Wynne and P.J. Treacy. Thanks to their hard work and dedication over the last ten years, we now have a club that is growing all the time, culminating in the team winning the Junior League in 2008 and gaining promotion to intermediate level. The clubs future looks bright with a mix of youth and experience, and some promising young players growing up with the club.
This year is club's 10th anniversary, and in thanks to the founder members of the Rugby Gaels club, they were presented with commemorative plaques. The players who have been involved for the last ten years felt it important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the founder members in getting the club off the ground and developing it to it's current status. The picture opposite shows the founder members being presented with their plaques by Neil Merrigan (has played for the club for 10 yrs) and Wayne Kavanagh (newly joined this year). | ![]() |
