Intermediate League

Gaels 0:05  v  John Mitchells 1:09 - 22.03.09 - L

 It was a tough start to the new season in a new league for the Gaels against an experienced John Mitchells team. With Mitchells dominating the midfield contest Gaels found it hard to gain posession and compete. Despite Mitchells pulling away at the start Gaels managed to stay in contention through the first half and were only three points down at half time in a low scoring first half - Gaels 0:02 v Mitchells 0:05

Gaels showed some of the footballing ability that led them to promotion last year in the first 15 mins of the second half and had their finishing been more efficient it may have been closer, but their fitness tailed off and Mitchells pulled away toward the end with a goal killing of the challenge.

Gaels 0:04  v  St. Mary's 4:14 - 29.03.09 -  L

 A strong St. Mary's outfit showed just how big the gulf between Intermediate and Junior can be. With their big strong midfield, and strong running half backs their pass and move play overwhelmed Gaels throughout the 60 mins. Occasionally Gaels showed flashes of good play, and again may have made more of a fist of it had they taken their chances but on the whole weren't sharp or fit enough to compete with a hungry St. Mary's team.
